Siteimprove Overview

About the Tool

Enroll your UCLA managed website for FREE into the automated Siteimprove environment.  Visit "How to Enroll Sites and Users" for the steps on enrolling a ucla.edu site and requesting access for UCLA users!  UCLA's Disability and Computing Program (DCP) in the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) pays annually Siteimprove for the campus to provide quality assurance monitoring for websites as part of a UCOP contract with all UC campuses (except UC Berkeley).  Some of the monitoring and reporting features offered by Siteimprove include:

  • Accessibility
  • SEO
  • Link checking
  • Spell checking

The DCP helps support only the "Accessibility" section.

Siteimprove crawls your website every five days, analyzing your content to identify Quality Assurance issues, ensure Accessibility compliance, and enhance visibility with improved SEO.

When you log on to Siteimprove, the effectiveness of your website is displayed in an easy-to-use dashboard, with a Digital Certainty Index™ that turns complex website measures into one simple score.

With just a few clicks, you'll be able to view errors, mistakes, and areas for improvement, with guidance on how to fix the issues spelled out in plain English.

As you resolve issues, you can re-crawl pages of your site and watch your scores improve.

Logging In

Please be sure to only use the UCOP instance of Siteimprove to log in. You will not have access if you try to log in directly from the Siteimprove general site.

How Do I Get Started?

Using Siteimprove to Scan Logged in Systems and Web Applications

Siteimprove is designed to be used primarily on public facing websites.  The tool can be used to evaluate a website in development located in staging or testing environment behind password. It is not recommended for evaluating complex web applications requiring specific user pathways such registering for classes and learning management systems, for these types of systems manual evaluation and page by page automated scanning is recommended. No sites with PII, PHI, or other confidential information should be scanned. Siteimprove reports capture a point-in-time copy of your website and all the information presented.

Need Help?

Siteimprove has an incredibly comprehensive Help Center, so please consult their documentation if you have usability questions.

IT Help Desk support will be limited to technical questions where administrator assistance may be required (such as initiating/revoking user access and requesting sites to be added or removed).

But don't worry! If we can't help you directly, there's enhanced support available through Siteimprove and we'll ensure your issue is handled.

Contact us and we'll take it from there! Please provide as much detail as possible (email is preferred).
