Please note this page is only for "how to" instructions on how to request enrolling sites, request access for UCLA users, and activating UCLA user accounts. If you want to learn more about Siteimprove as a product. Please see the DCP's wepage on Siteimprove.
How to Request Site Enrollment
The DCP is currently working on a request form/ticketing system for these requests. Until this is finalized, please use the following steps.
- Email the DCP Team with the subject line "Siteimprove Site Enrollment Request: 'Site Title'"
- In this email, please enclose the following information:
- The ucla.edu URL
- The UCLA Site Manager (name & email) -- the person who has final authority on the site
- The UCLA developer point of contact (name & email)
- The UCLA website content manager (name & email)
- Any third-party/vendor points of contact we should be aware of (name & email) - access subject to approval
- Any additional individuals that should have access to the Siteimprove dashboad (name & email)
- Please ensure anyone you would like to have added has completed the "Activate a UCLA User" section below.
Someone from the DCP team will respond to the email thread when this is completed and/or if we have follow-up questions to complete your request. Please feel free to send a follow-up email if you have not received a response within 3-5 business days.
Important Note #1: The initial scan may take anywhere from 1-7 days depending on the size of the site. Usually, the score will be up within 72 hours of enrollment.
Important Note #2: This tool has been approved for "ucla.edu" sites only. However, exceptions can be made for some UCLA-affiliate websites but may need extra steps.
Important Note #3: Third-Party/Vendor Users may be subjected to additional screenings/steps. UCLA members may automatically be added with Site Manager approval.
How to Request UCLA User Access to A Site's Dashboard
The DCP is currently working on a request form/ticketing system for these requests. Until this is finalized, please use the following steps.
- Ensure that the user has activated their Siteimprove accounts BEFORE requesting dashboard access (see "Activating Siteimprove Account" below). This is important because if the account is not activated it will not be visible in the user directory to receive access.
- Email the DCP Team with the subject line "Siteimprove User Access Request: 'User Name - Site Title'"
- Ensure the UCLA Site Manager is CC'ed on the thread for user approvals
- In this email, please enclose the following information:
- The URL/Site Title
- The UCLA/legal name(s) of the user(s) being requested. This is important because that is how their name will show up in the user directory.
- The UCLA-registered email address(es) for the user(s)
Someone from the DCP team will respond to the email thread when this is completed and/or if we have follow-up questions to complete your request. Please feel free to send a follow-up email if you have not received a response within 3-5 business days.
Important Note: These instructions are for UCLA staff, students and faculty. If you are requesting access for a third-party vendor individual, they may be subjected to extra steps and vetting. The Siteimprove tool is primarily for UCLA individuals.
How to Activate a UCLA User Siteimprove Account
- Login to the UCOP instance of Siteimprove using your SSO.
- Make sure you select our campus, "University of California, Los Angeles"
- If you need access to multiple campus log ins, be sure to un-check "Remember my choice", so you select every time you log in.
- If you make an error in this, you must clear your cache and cookies to reset this.
- When your SSO successfully logs in you will see an empty Siteimprove dashboard. This will become populated when you or your UCLA Site Manager puts in a request for your access.
Important Note: If you are trying to activate an account for someone without an SSO, please request a special consideration by emailing the DCP team.
