Logging on Hands-Free To Microsoft Windows

 

1     Use Tweak-ui to login into Windows Hands-free:

There is a version of TweakUI that works with Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, and Microsoft Windows 2000. To download the TweakUI 1.33 update, see the following Microsoft Web site:

2.  Another Method to Login without a Password

  1. Logon to Windows 95/98 with your main user name.
  2. Verify that all of your drives map correctly and printers are set up the way you want them. Be sure Reconnect at logon is checked.
  3. Restart Windows 95/98 and double-check that everything connected correctly.
  4. Open the password dialog box. [Start]–Settings–Control Panel. Double-click Passwords–Change Windows Password.
  5. Clear the checkbox for each of the other network passwords. Click OK.
  6. Type your Old password, but leave New password and Confirm new password blank. Click OK. Click OK. again. Click Close.
  7. Open Network Properties. [Alt]–Double-click Network Neighborhood. Select Configuration. Change Primary Network Logon to Windows Logon.
  8. Restart Windows 95/98 when prompted. If asked for a password for reconnecting devices, enter it. Make sure that Remember Password is checked, if present.

The next time you logon to Windows 95/98 it should not require a password

 

3.    Logging into Novell Client32 Hands free:

To log into the network using Novell Client32 the GUI Login must first be disabled.

To do this run REGEDIT and edit the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\Real Mode Net

1. Once this path is reached, if the AutoLogon variable name is not in the registry,it needs to be added. To do this, right click on Real Mode Net. Select "NEW" and then click on "Binary Value". Then edit the New Value name with "AutoLogon". If it is already there, go to step 3.
2. Right click on this name "AutoLogon" and select modify.
3. Edit Binary Value screen should now be displayed. Enter 00. The entry should appear
like this: 0000 00
4. Close the registry.

Now that the GUI Login is disabled, place the LOGINW95.EXE in the STARTUP folder. Then right click on the file name and go to Properties. Once in Netware Login Properties, go to Shortcut. The Target will have the path to LOGINW95.EXE. At the end of the path place the login name and the parameter /cont. For example: path\loginw95.exe login_name /cont

The changes will take effect upon restart of the computer
